Golf Lessons

Zack's daycare teacher called me at work today. My heart sinks every time I see the daycare on my caller ID. She started off by saying she just got back from taking Zack to the director's office. My first thought was that he did something really bad and was sent to the principal's office, so my mind starts racing on what he could have possibly done. She then said his eye has a discharge and they think it is pink eye. So I pick him up and take him to the doctor. The doctor said he has an ear infection and it is seeping out of his eye. She gave me a prescription and said he could return to daycare tomorrow. His eyes were all kinds of goopy and swollen today. He never showed any signs that his ear was bothering him, even after I asked if his ear hurt. I thought that was really strange. Hopefully he recovers soon, but he is so tough that you would never know he was sick.

My birthday was on Saturday and Ryan picked up on my not-so-subtle hints that I wanted a zoom lens for my camera (70-300mm). It arrived on Monday and this baby is huge. I feel like I should start a paparazzi business or something. I can't wait to use it this summer on the boat getting some actions shots of waterskiers, wakeboarders and hopefully Zack tubing.

Here are a few pics with my new baby.

Zack and Riley

We spent the weekend with Ryan's family for his grandma's funeral. It was a great to see everyone again. Zack was a trooper with lack of sleep at nights and short power naps during the day. He had a blast playing with his cousins and grandparents.

Here is Zack and his cousin Riley at Grandma Sharon and Grandpa Jim's house. Zack loves Riley and doesn't like when she leaves his site. He is constantly looking for her. I love having her around because she is wonderful at watching him (and because she is a great kid, of course!)

Sorry for those that don't care to look at my pregnant belly, but here is my first belly picture. It was Ryan's idea to take a picture last night. I think we were taking them every other day when I was pregnant with Zack. I have been majorly slacking this time. I don't want to be "that Mom" and have to answer questions from #2 on why Zack got this and that and they didn't, so I have to get over the been there done that attitude.

11 weeks 1 day. I think I'm growing much quicker this time. I decided to take all my pictures in front of Zack's growth chart, so I can keep track of my belly growth easier.

Beautiful Noise

Ryan and I just heard the best sound ever! The baby's heartbeat!!! I had my ten week prenatal appointment this morning and everything looks great. My OB office now has a spanking new 4D ultrasound machine that burns to a DVD, so we will have that done at 18-20 weeks. They said my due date is 10/14/07, but I already knew that thanks to the powers of the internet.

Men at Work

The plan was for Ryan to vacuum while I gave Zack a bath. Zack decided the men needed to stick together, so he grabbed his vacuum and helped his dad.

I had to hide the goods :)

Saturday, Zack and I went to The Children's Museum in Indy with my sister and her kids. I didn't get many pictures because the adults were out-numbered by the kids and always going in opposite directions.

Here is Courtney and Emily hanging out on Clifford.

Zack planting his garden. Notice he is concentrating on the circles and hasn't touched the row of triangles :(

Warning - picture overload!

The Ladies Man strikes again today. I picked Zack up from daycare today and he was wearing his Ladies Man t-shirt. We were walking out the door to leave his room and a little girl, Emmy, ran over to him and said Zack you left without your hug. She then leaned over and gave him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. My little boy has his first girlfriend and she is a cutie!

Last night we enjoyed our last evening of warm weather by walking around the Purdue campus. I must first explain Zack's long running obsession with trash. Anywhere we go he points out the garbage cans multiple times and he absolutely loves throwing away trash. He is always asking if things are trash so he can throw them away. I kept thinking that this was just a short-term fad, but trash has been his favorite thing since he starting walking.

As soon as we got out of the car and started walking around he immediately noticed a garbage can and ran up to it, then he spotted a second and a third and so on. Zack was in trash can heaven. He had never seen so many garbage cans in one area. Ryan and I just had to laugh and take pictures of course.

Here are a few of Zack's favorite trash cans.

We then ran into the lion that roars when a virgin walks by (says the legend). Zack had a little heart-to-heart with the lion. I think he was talking about his girlfriend Emmy, but I don't want to know these things.

Zack jumping off the fountain pedistiles, hopefully they'll have water soon. The monkey decided that college seems pretty cool and he is ready to start classes or he thought there might be more trash cans inside.

Zack then decided that campus, and all the garbage cans on it, is the happiest place on earth and he broke out in dance.

It was finally time to go home and Zack was exhausted from all the running.

The Park, revisited

We went to Purdue's campus after work today and walked around. We are spending as much time outdoors as possible while the weather still allows. Ryan and I both went to Purdue and love walking around and seeing what has changed and riminiscing about the college years. I'll post some pictures tomorrow, but my laptop with PhotoShop on it isn't cooperating tonight, so I can't proof the pictures. Zack definitely loved campus, but for different reasons than Ryan and I. I'll share tomorrow :)

Here are some more pictures from the park on Saturday.

Here are a couple pictures taken while we were waiting for daddy to return with hamburger buns from the grocery store. Zack took off his rain boots and socks and thought it was the funniest thing.
and yummy toes!

Playing Outside

Zack has pottied on the potty chair two nights in a row, yay! Only problem is he starts going and then gets excited and grabs himself and stops his stream. I also noticed tonight that he has started saying you're welcome when someone says thank you to him. He usually just repeats thank you. He is growing up too fast.

We are loving the warmer weather and the time change. Tomorrow it is supposed to be 75 degrees! Then snow returns for Friday and Saturday, boo! Tonight after work we played outside. Zack loves playing all sports and all balls.

Here, Ryan is trying to teach Zack to catch a hiked ball. We have to work on his stance.

Zack then thought mommy was looking thirsty from all the picture taking. He ran into the garage and came out yelling, mommy beer, mommy beer. Only seven more months and I'll accept that beer buddy! He is going to have fun this summer at the lake. He will be everyone's favorite bartender.

The Park

We were finally able to shed our winter coats this weekend, yay! We took advantage on Saturday and went to the park. Zack was happy to have his new rain boots on so he could jump in the mud puddles.

Zack and daddy having a heart to heart talk

I can't believe the geese and ducks don't get hypothermia. They were walking on the ice and swimming in the freezing water.

Glimmer of hope

I've been having focus issues with the camera lately and have been getting discouraged. I don't know if it is the lack of sunlight or my lack of skills or a little of both. I finally caught some eye contact and a decent focus. Hopefully I'll get some more opportunites after daylight savings time and 60 degrees next week! Yay!! we may actually be able to play outside after work.

I also haven't printed/framed any pictures since Zack was 12 months and bald. Maybe this one is worthy? I really need to get a new picture at work.

I must get to bed. This baby is kicking my butt! Thank God for TIVO, there is no way I'll be able to watch LOST tonight.

Two sport athlete

I'm tired and don't feel like typing, so I'm just posting a couple pictures tonight of my little sport.

Practicing the javelin with the swiffer handle.
Good night!

New Discoveries

We are quickly entering the terrible twos. Zack has started hitting when he doesn't get his way. I guess I should be thankful that he isn't a biter, but I still don't like it. I talked to his daycare teacher today and she said it is very normal for the age. He is just testing his boundries and to redirect him.

He has also started playing on his own a little and not attached to my hip 24/7. I have learned that when he is quite I have to start worrying about what he is getting into. Yesterday he was taking wipes from one container and putting them into an empty wipes container. He had his bedroom door closed and new he shouldn't have been doing it.

He has had a recent growth spurt and can now see inside the drawers below. I am constantly catching him playing with the batteries in the drawers. Saturday, a friend brought by a computer for Ryan to fix and Zack decided to use it to get an even better view inside the drawer.

On Saturday Zack and I went shopping at the most dangerous store for our checking account...POTTERY BARN KIDS!!!! yay! I want to keep having babies just so I can continue to shop there. We are planning on moving Zack to our guest bedroom before baby #2 arrives. The room is much bigger and Ryan thinks Zack should get it since he is first born, plus if we have a boy we will probably keep the nursery the same. Ryan is anxious to get started on redecorating it before he finds out we are having a girl and I go shopping at PBK again for pink stuff and he has to redue two rooms. Zack loves all balls/sports so we thought this would be a good fit for his big boy bedroom, hopefully he is still into sports when he is ten because I don't think I'm going to be allowed to go to PBK alone again.

These pictures are from We bought the quilt and sheets.

These are pictures I took of my purchases. I love the colors.

baseball bat peg rack that I couldn't resist
and a large canvas basket to help keep his toys picked up.

If any of Zack's grandparents are looking for 2nd birthday gifts here you go (joke). I had to literally drag Zack kicking and screaming from the kitchen. "I cook! I cook! I cook!" The entire time I shopped he played with this kitchen set and wasn't close to being ready to leave. He has a kitchen set at home, but it isn't nearly as cool as this one.
