Slow week

Sorry that I've been MIA all week. I really don't have a good excuse. It has just been a pretty uneventful week. I've been trying to get a decent picture of Zack for his birthday invite and then I've been designing his card. We are also planning a little trip to Chicago, so I've been spending time trying to find a hotel.

Tomorrow we are finally going up to the lake and turning on the water and opening up our "summer home." There will be a lot of cleaning to do, but I'm excited to get started. Hopefully Zack will let me get something done. Next weekend my snow bird parents will be returning home for the summer from Florida, so we should have some new faces on the blog. They weren't very happy when I told them they are calling for the 60's next week.

Oh, Wednesday I was in a meeting and on my second after lunch large chocolate chip cookie and felt the baby move for the first time. It moved across my lower belly a few times. I forgot how much I missed that feeling. I can't wait to start feeling him/her more often and stronger.

Who's Next?

We have been enjoying the warm weather as much as possible. I must admit, though, that I dread letting Zack go outside to play because it is impossible to get him back inside. It usually involves a lot of kicking and screaming.

My ultrasound got bumped back from 5/11 to 5/22. The doctor's office called and my OB has a procedure scheduled for 5/11. The ultrasound technician is on vacation the following week and she was afraid to make the appointment and sooner because I'll only be 17 1/2 weeks along. Zack measured small, so if this baby is anything like his big brother then we are probably better off waiting another week to see how everything looks.

Here is Zack taking his golf balls for a ride in the wagon. (you can't see the golf balls, but they enjoyed the ride)

New Toys

Zack befriended some old toys today. He got these trucks for Christmas (or maybe even before that) and has never showed any interest in them. Lately he has started playing with trucks though, which he never showed any interest in before. He was strictly a ball boy. I've had these sitting on the top shelf of his tall bookcase and he asked me to get them down this morning. He played with them all day today.

He also watched full episodes of The Wiggles and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse today. TV has never been able to hold his interest for more than a couple minutes. I must admit it was a nice break for mommy, but if it continues I'll have to pull the plug. I can't believe he is almost two!

I went to the doctor today for my 14 week checkup. Everything looked good and we scheduled the big 3d/4D ultrasound!!!! May 11th is the big day. I'll be a couple days shy of 18 weeks, so hopefully they baby will be big enough to show the goods. Zack always measured small (and still does) hopefully his baby brother/sister will be on track so I don't stress this pregnancy too.

This past weekend was Spring Fest at Purdue. We were planning on going on Saturday with my sister and her family, but the weather didn't cooperate. We ended up going on Sunday because it was a little nicer day, but there weren't as many activities. They did have pony rides though and the kids loved it. I was worried Zack wouldn't like the ride because he has ridden on a carousel about three times and is getting better, but always wants off in the middle of the ride. He did great on the ponies though and didn't want them to stop.

My Own Birthday Me-Me

Ok, I have been tagged by Janice to post this Birthday Me-Me. You go to , and type in your birth date (minus the year), and see the events of the day you were born. My birthday is March 24th.

3 Events That Occurred That Day:
1958 - Elvis Presley is formally inducted in the US Army
1989 - Exxon Valdez oil spill: In Alaska's Prince William Sound the Exxon Valdez spills 240,000 barrels (42,000 m³) of petroleum after running aground.
1998 - Jonesboro massacre: In Jonesboro, Arkansas, two boys (aged 11 and 13 years) fire upon students at Westside Middle School; four students and one teacher are killed and 10 injured.

2 Important Birthdays
1951 - Tommy Hilfiger, American fashion designer
1976 - Peyton Manning, American football player

1 Death
1603 - Queen Elizabeth I of England (b. 1533)

Holiday or Observance
no holidays on 3/24

Janice posted some baby pictures of herself, which is a great idea. But, I don't think I have any of my baby pictures. I need to get them from my parents still or should I say my brother now, since he bought their house and most of my belongings from childhood. I'm not complaining though, because I don't have room to store them.

So, I'll leave you with a cute Zack story. This morning he had a burnt CD and was trying to put it in the DVD player. He kept saying ABC, ABC. I thought he wanted to watch a DVD with ABC's on it, but couldn't figure out which DVD he could possibly be thinking about. Ryan then said that when he picks him up from daycare Zack always plays with his CDs and called them ABCs instead of CDs. I'm usually pretty good about translating Zack's english, but that one threw me. I thought it was pretty cute.

The Egg Hunt

I think Easter is Zack's new favorite holiday. He loved everything about it. Coloring the eggs, hunting for eggs, and receiving the Easter basket overflowing with chocolate candy and toys. I can't wait to see him at his second birthday in a month. Next year we will work on the whole church and religous part of the holiday, oops.

Zack's daycare class did an egg hunt of Thursday and his teacher told me how much the toddlers loved it and how cute they were, so she did another one on Friday. I decided I had to see it for myself, so I hid some eggs in Grandma and Grandpa's basement on Saturday. Zack had a blast finding them. We ended up having three egg hunts on Saturday. It was a great way to keep him occupied and out of trouble. I had to use the flash on these so he looks really washed out. Where did our warm weather go?!?!?

Easter Eggs

Saturday we colored Easter eggs with Zack's cousins. He loved coloring the eggs, but wasn't very gental with them. I was amazed that he didn't stain his clothes. I just knew I'd be throwing them away when we were done. I couldn't believe he didn't end up with any brown eggs. I think he dipped each egg in every color he could reach.

The spoon was a little too hard to work, so he decided to use his fingers.
What boy doesn't like a good mess?
The final touches - stickers with Grandma
and then you smash the egg on the table, like I said we have to work on being gental. I think he cracked every egg he colored.

Happy Easter

Hope everyone had a happy Easter. Luckily the Easter Bunny was able to find Zack at his Grandma and Grandpa's house. We celebrated Easter on Saturday with Ryan's family and spent the night. I'll post some pictures from Saturday later this week. Here are a few pictures from Easter morning.

Sorry no pictures, but I have to share this. Zack poo pooed in the potty last night!!! I put him on the toilet with the potty ring before his bath and he had a tiny poo. He started clapping and said he pottied. I said no you went poo poo and we celebrated, so he had to get down and check it out. He tried again and didn't produce anything, so I put him in the tub. Then he said he needed to potty again, so I decided to entertain him and put him on the small potty chair. He then pooed again and got up and looked (and tried to touch), sat back down and went again and looked. He probably did this 4-5 times and was so proud of himself. Now we have to see if it was a fluke of if he is starting to get it. We are slowly getting there!

On another note. Zack still has goop and matted eyes from the ear infection. He went to the doctor last Wednesday and they gave him an antibiotic. Tuesday his eyes weren't looking any better, so I called the doctor again and they prescribed eyedrops. We have to give them four times a day for seven days. Zack's arms are going to be so bruised by the end of the seven days. He absolutely hates them and we have to hold him down and pry his eyes open - four times a day. His eyes looked much better this morning after only 3 applications yesterday. He still had a little bit this morning, but nothing like before.

Hopefully his eyes will clear up soon, so I can resume taking pictures. Right now his eye lids are so red. He looks like a drug addict.

Here are a couple pictures from last week. It is supposed to turn cold again soon and snow for Easter, boo! I thought winter was finally behind us.

I think Zack looks so big in the first picture. His face is really filling out and he is becoming less and less of a baby. Speaking of babies, #2 is the size of a lime! We are getting there slowly.

Road Trip

Today we decided to take a trip up to the lake. We had a lot of stuff to take up and Ryan needed to do some measuring for carpet. Zack hasn't really been up there since last summer and he was very adventurous. We are going to have our hands full this summer. He loved the playground, geese, and the mud puddles. We made sure Grandpa's boat made it through the winter (I had to throw that in there for you Dad, in case I forget to tell you it looked fine.) I think his favorite part though was the soccer ball we found inside the trailer. It was never far from him. Notice that he is kicking with his left foot in both pictures. He is most definitely a southpaw like mommy.
