Our trip to Chicago

Monday and Tuesday we met some friends in Chicago for a mini vacation. Their daughter was born the day after Zack and she is pregnant also and due two weeks after me. I love that our kids, first and second borns, are/will be the same age. They live about 2 1/2 hours away from us and we have such similar lives, from jobs to difficult first pregnancies to husbands. We had an awesome two days and I look forward to many more vacations with them in the coming years.

We met Monday morning at The Shedd Aquarium. Zack and Abi hadn't seen each other since they were 9-10 months old. Zack had been talking about "Abi in Chicago" for over a week and they were instant friends when we met at The Shedd. I was afraid that once he realized he didn't really know Abi, except for the pics on the fridge, that he would turn shy and clingy, but he did great. The kids had so much fun looking at the various fish, dolphins, whales, penguins, etc. It wasn't very busy so we were able to let the kids out of their strollers to explore on their own. The aquarium was dark and we weren't allowed to use flash around the animals, so I didn't get many pictures.

We then left the aquarium and checked into the hotel to let the kids nap. After nap time we walked around Michigan Avenue and did some shopping. We stopped at Garrett's Popcorn and bought the yummiest cheese popcorn two pregnant women could ever dream about. We then headed back to the hotel and the kids were exhausted, so we decided to send the men for some Chicago style pizza for the adults and McDonald's for the kids.

Tuesday we went to Navy Pier. The kids loved the garden area and playing in the fountains.
