Cool Toy Alert

Have you heard of Magna-Tiles before?

I just discovered them on a message board while wasting time at work. They look really cool and get nothing but great reviews from the moms on the message board. The kids play with them for years. It doesn't look like the are available in many stores, but http://www.amazon.com/ sells them. They are pricy, but it sounds like they're worth it.

Here is another super cute, super expensive, toy that kids and parents love. Automoblox

The cars come apart and if you have multiple cars you can use the pieces and parts to build your own car creation. They are also available on www.amazon.com.

I'm sure Zack will have at least one of these two toys under the Christmas tree. Okay, so he'll probably get both. They are educational!

I thought I'd pass these along to other parents who hadn't seen them and like to start their Christmas shopping in July :)

Totally made my day!!

I'm at work and the phone rings and I see on the caller ID that it is Zack's daycare. I immediately think something is wrong and I'll have to go pick him up. His teacher says everything is fine, but Zack just did something and wanted to call you. She puts Zack on the phone and he says, Mommy I poo poo! I get sticker! I go potty! I love you! Bye Bye, and I of course had a bunch of praising in the middle of those statements. His teacher got back on the phone and said he started going in his diaper and finished on the potty chair, but he was so excited and wanted to call me. She apologized for calling and said we won't make a habit of it. I told her it completely made my day and I'm so glad she called. I think I have the sweetest little guy ever! Is it 5:00 yet?

Why? Why Mommy? Why?

For months Zack has been asking, What's that?, continuously, well it has quickly been replaced with, Why? I guess he now knows what everything is and now wants to know how it all works. It is cute at the beginning, but then he starts sounding like a broken record, why?, why?, why?... I was hoping he was going to skip the Why? phase in place of the What's that? phase, but no luck.

I had another OB appointment today. I took the one hour glucose test (orange drink). It tasted as nasty as I remembered, but I managed to keep it down. I have to call tomorrow for the test results. Everything else looked good. The doctor said I was measuring on schedule, which made me feel good because that is how we found out Zack was having problems, hopefully Addie keeps growing and doesn't follow after her big brother.

Last night we met my sister and her family at the county fair. We walked around and saw all the animals and Zack loved every second of it. He had never seen farm animals up close before and I wasn't sure if the size would scare him, but he did great. He even listened to us when we told him not to touch or told him to stop because he was getting too far ahead weaving between people and he even held my hand when I asked him to (most of the time). I was pleasantly amazed by my little wild animal. Maybe there is hope that he'll stay by me when I am carrying the baby and he is walking.

This horse would nod his head when we said hi or bye, so the kids thought he was pretty cool.

Tomorrow we are supposed to meet my sister and her family again at a local waterpark for family night. We haven't been there before but it sounds like they have a great area for little kids. Hopefully the weather is nice and I get some good pictures, because I've offically ran out of blogging material.
I took Zack for a long overdue haircut tonight. He looks like a different kid. She took trim to the extreme, but he needed it. Now I'm worried that he will get a sunburn on his head because his hair is so thin. Hopefully I'll get some pictures of the new do tomorrow at the pool.

Catching up

Zack went on the potty chair six times today. I think that is a new record. He has been doing really good, but we are far from throwing away the diapers. I would love to have him trained before the baby arrives, but I don't know if it will happen. It is also time to get serious about moving him into the big boy bed and into the other bedroom, so we can start working on the nursery for Addison. I think we have a game plan, but still need to buy the furniture. I am starting to feel huge, although people keep telling me on not very big compared to other pregnant women, which only makes me worry. I am shooting for at least a 6 pounder this time and no NICU. I go back to the doctor on Tuesday and will have the one hour glucose test and that yummy orange drink, bleck! I broke out the snoogle this week. I forgot how wonderful it is. We went grocery shopping last night and I was ready to die. Zack was a wild man running through Walmart and I did way too much bending over and carrying him. He looked like a contestant on Supermarket Sweep, running through the store pulling everything off the shelves and throwing it into the cart as fast as he could. No wonder we normally do small trips during lunch.

I'm just starting the third trimester. The first two went by extremely fast, so I hope this one does too. I had Ryan get down all the baby clothes from the attic and I went through them. I forgot how tiny the clothes are and how blue everything is. I found a few green sleepers and some white onesies, otherwise I have a lot of shopping ahead of me, which doesn't upset me too much really. I plan to go to the outlet mall in August and hit the back to school sales and probably buy everything pink in the Carter's store. I hate waiting till the last minute and I'm starting to freak.

Here is a picture of me from a week ago.

Here is the last of the vacation pictures that I never got around to posting. The morning after riding the rides at Indiana Beach my sister and her 2 year old, another friend with her 4 year old and 2 year old, and Zack and I went to the Indiana Beach Campground's new water play area . It had three small water slides, sprinklers spraying water everywhere, and a big bucket that dumps water when it fills up. All four of the kids were scared and wanted nothing to do with the play area. I eventually got Zack to let me take him down the smallest water slide and he absolutely loved it. As soon as we finished he would say, Again, and we went down again. We went down all three slides multiple times and he loved it. He didn't even mind the big bucket of water falling on him, although I tried to cover him with my body. Unfortunately the other three kids never warmed up to the water park, maybe next year. The best part - it only costs $5/person and under 36 inches is free! Nothing at The Beach is that cheap. I couldn't believe it. I think we'll be spending a lot of time there in the coming years.

These are from last Thursday. Ryan had the hose out for whatever reason and Zack got a hold of it and ended up soaked. I figured, since he was already wet and it was a nice night that it would be a good time to wash the car. As you can see from the pictures, Zack was a HUGE help!

Sing it with me - There's more than corn in Indiana

Alright, so most of you have no idea what I'm talking about. This is the catchy jingle for Indiana Beach Amusement Park.

So, after the water puddles it was time for dinner and we didn't have anything exciting to cook, so we decided to get tacos at Indiana Beach and let Zack ride some rides. This was the first time he had been to The Beach. They have the yummiest greasiest tacos ever. My brother and his fiance went with us. She had never been to there, except by boat to get tacos and leave. The others rode some roller coasters while Zack and I hung out in Kiddyland. I didn't think he would actually ride any rides, but he surprised me BIG TIME. He would choose his next ride, give the ride operator his ticket, choose his car and jump in like a pro. He is growing up way too fast.

Now 98% of these rides were there when I was his age and they were old then. I'm sure you'll be able to figure out which rides I'm talking about. It is weird to see your child enjoying riding rides that you remember riding "just yesterday."

I was a little nervous about letting him ride two of the rides he chose and he made me so proud when he changed his mind before the ride started. This ride went kind of fast and jerked a lot (Scrambler), so I really didn't want him on it, but decided not to be so overprotective. He jumped right in, big smile, but the ride operater was taking too long to get the other kids ready and Zack climbed out before it started. I was so happy, becuase I knew he would get scared.

This was a whale that went up and down in a swimming motion. Zack also changed his mind on it and started getting out before the ride started. Then the operater said I could ride with him. I hesitated, in my condition and all, but figured it was a kiddie ride and I think Addison could handle it. This darn thing wasn't a very graceful whale. We were jerking up and down the entire time. I'm glad I wasn't in the 1st trimester or I would have lost my cookies. I'm so glad Zack didn't ride it by himself. He was fine with me, but I had a good hold of him or his short little legs would have scooted right off the seat.

giving the ride operator a high five as he passed.

I think the firetruck was his favorite. It had a loud obnoxious horn that he layed on the entire time. I worked at The Beach for 3 years during college and forgot how much I hated the horns and buzzers everywhere.

Vacation - Part 3

On the evening of the 4th we decided to take two boat loads of people to Indiana Beach to watch the fireworks. We debated about going because there was a chance of thunderstorms. Ryan checked out the Internet and said good news and bad news it is a small cloud, but it is yellow, but there is a chance that it will miss us. We decided to take our chances and go for it. It is probably a 45 minute idle boat ride to The Beach and we started getting dark clouds on the way up, but we forged on. Ryan checked the Internet again, via the cell phone, and the cloud had now grown from small to very large. We got there just before dark and then the fireworks started, soon afterwards the dark clouds and lightning started getting closer. We decided to skip the grand finale and high tail it home. My parent's pontoon boat has a roof over it, so we did some shuffling and my dad was in charge of the women and children. The men went in the ski boat with no roof. The roof helped for a while, but soon it started down pouring and we were all drenched. Luckily we had lots of blankets and beach towels and the 4 toddlers and 1 8'ish year old kid stayed relatively dry and all fell asleep. I don't think I've ever seen that much lightning. I kept praying to myself that we wouldn't get electrocuted. My dad was an awesome captain, except for one quick detour into a bay, and got us home in record time.

Here is a picture of 4 women, 4 toddlers and an 8'ish year old after we made it safely back to the boat lift. The kids were all covered under the towels and one under the table. We will definitely have to check with, and listen to, the weather man before the Labor Day fireworks.

The 5th was a nice day. Zack and I both took naps, while Ryan played on my cousin's jet ski. We then went out in my parent's pontoon and swam at a sandbar for the afternoon. That evening the clouds started rolling in again and we got a nice shower. After it was over Zack couldn't resist the water puddles.

Tubing

Zack also went tubing for the first time on the 4th. I'm not sure he ever cracked a smile, but he never cried or got scared either. Maybe he just needs to go faster to really enjoy the ride. Here are some pictures of Zack tubing with his daddy.

and one of Ryan falling off the tube while riding with a friend.

We're Home

We just returned from five hot beautiful days at the lake. It rained a couple nights/evenings, but we could handle that. It was a great vacation and we got some much needed R&R. Zack is already asking to go to the lake and to see Fwampa Wonnie. It is going to be a long week. I have lots of pictures to share this week. Here are a few from the 4th of Ryan building and Zack destroying a lake in the sand.

Dancing Machine

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. We went to the lake and celebrated the 4th of July with lots of activities. Zack has wiped on Sunday. Saturday night he went to his first dance and had a blast dancing. By the time I took him home he could barely stay awake.
Here he is showing off some moves. This pose totally reminds me of my dad dancing and his signature move.

Zack was quite the ladies man. Here he is dancing with his cousin Courtney. He loved the DJ lights and wouldn't take his eyes off of them, as you can see in every picture.

and of course mommy had to steal a dance. I'm so happy I finally have a dancing partner.

Courtney and a completely beat Zack.

Zack and Olivia - no relation to this cutie!

The ladies man with his chicks, although he cares more about the DJ lights than the babes.
