Disney - Part 5

WARNING: Extreme picture overload

Thursday we went to our fourth and final Disney park, Animal Kingdom. Ryan promised that we would make an effort to see more characters today, because Zack only got one pathetic autograph the day before at the Magic Kingdom. Boy, did he come through as you will soon see. The crowds and lines weren't nearly as bad, which made a huge difference too.

We started off by seeing five characters outside the park before we even swiped our tickets.

Timon from The Lion King, Baloo from The Jungle Book, Chip and Dale, Rafiki from The Lion King. (There is something funky going on with the picture layout. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the 27 pictures in this post.)

(above) we have a Rafiki stuffed animal at home and Zack has always been a little afraid of him. He didn't want to go over to him and we told him that was fine. He then decided on his own after meeting the other characters and keeping an eye on Rafiki that it would be ok to meet him.

Once inside the park, Grandma Sharon, the kids and I headed straight to the characters while Ryan and Grandpa got Fast Passes for Everest, the new roller coaster.

(two above) we had to wake Zack up from his nap before he was ready so we could go on the safari ride.

(above) it started sprinkling towards the end of the day, so the rides cleared out. Zack and I rode a dinosaur ride, similar to Dumbo, two times in a row with no wait. While we were up in the air I spotted Pluto and Goofy signing autographs, so after the ride ended we grabbed the autograph book and ran over there. It started raining harder, so they weren't signing autographs and only taking quick pictures. I think we were the last ones to get a picture before they were whisked away. Ryan sporting his Mickey poncho from our trip seven years ago during the rainy season in August.

On our way to the exit we spotted Pooh Trail. It was raining pretty hard and a cast member said that there was no wait to see the characters. Zack was vegging in the stroller and didn't know where we were going. He looked up and saw Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet and Tigger. He absolutely flipped with excitement. He hadn't met them yet. We grabbed the autograph book and headed towards Pooh.

Zack had a question for Pooh. "Where's Darby Pooh?"

Peek-A-Boo with Piglet. Zack was cracking up.

Then came the major kick ourselves for not getting the video camera out moment. Zack and Tigger had a little dance/jump off. They took turns dancing, tapping, jumping and Zack was in heaven. It had to of lasted 5-10 minutes. He had everyone rolling. The pictures don't do it any justice, but it was the perfect way to end our trip to Disney World.

Zack was ready to go home with Tigger.

Man, I'm so upset I didn't grab the video camera!

Ahh, the end of the Disney pictures, but not the end of our vacation. Tomorrow. . . THE BEACH.

We are still awaiting the arrival of Zack's lost bee (blanket.) They said it could take up to 14 days and tomorrow will be day 14. He is doing fine, for the most part, without it. On Sunday Ryan took him to see Horton Hears a Who. Zack ate 3/4 the tub of popcorn and threw a major tantrum when Ryan drug him away from the air hockey table while trying to leave.

We had a great time at the parks, but it was exhausting. By the end of the day everyone was grouchy and sore. We had planned on taking a break in the afternoon for naps and swimming at the hotel, but that never happened. With the kids and the busy parks we felt like there wouldn't be time to do everything we wanted to do if we left. We never saw everything and we're there for the majority of the time the parks were open. Next time we will need to take more time and not do four parks in four days or only do one or two parks and then spend the rest of the vacation on the beach visiting my parents.
