To the Moon and Back

Addison turned 15 months old today. We celebrated with a couple of shots at the doctor's office :( She is 31 inches tall (50-75%) and 22lbs 5 oz (50%).

This month she has discovered her sweet tooth. She was in heaven over the holidays with the Christmas cookies and candy around the house. Zack still doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, so this is new to me. She has also been introduced to raisins, craisins and fruit snacks, some of her favorite non-chocolate snacks.

She is also perfecting the art of climbing. The second you turn your back on her she is either on top of the kitchen table or on top of Zack's train table. She always stands on top and dances, stomps her feet, which makes it easy to figure out that she is doing something wrong. I have been home with the kids for the past five days and she has worn me out.

She is getting better about biting me, but when she does go to bite she makes a growling/chomping sound first. It is pretty funny and also gives me warning to pull away. It is hard to keep a straight face and discipline. I wish I could get it on tape.

Yesterday she started doing what we call butt slams. She jumps up and lands in the sitting position on her butt. Zack was always doing them when he was younger. I have no idea how they figure out that it would be a fun thing to do.

She has also just recently started getting into books. Before I would try to read to her and she would have little to no interest. Now she brings us books to read, sits through at least half the book, and requests books before bedtime.

She is slowing adding words to her vocabulary and learning new signs. The latest signs are dog and change the diaper.

Here are a couple pictures of my wild animal jumping on the couch this morning.

The Infirmary

Sorry for the lack of blog attention, but we have had at least one person in our house sick for the past two weeks. My last post from two weeks ago said that Zack wasn't feeling well. I took him to the doctor and he had scarlet fever, which is strep throat and a rash. The rash covered his entire upper body and he looked like he had a sunburn.

Zack started feeling better and then Ryan caught the bug last Friday night. I finally convinced him to go see the doctor and he had strep throat. It kept him down for over four days.

On Monday, my throat and ear were starting to hurt. I went to the doctor before my symptoms got worse and we had two parents down and kids ruling the house. She said my throat was just red, but didn't test me for strep. She went ahead and prescribed amoxicillin, so I've been taking it.

Addison has had a nasty nose for at least a week, so I took her into the doctor on Thursday. She tested positive for strep throat. Zack came with us so they looked him over and tested him. He also has strep. The doctor said that the germs are outsmarting the medicine, so she prescribed them both a med that should fight the smart germs.

Hopefully next week will be healthier for us.

Here is a little of what we've been up to.

Last Saturday I took Zack to his first Purdue basketball game. He did go when he was around 7 months, but that doesn't really count. I knew Ryan was sick if he passed off his 9th row, center court ticket to me. The seats were awesome and so was Zack. The first half he was all about cheering and looking at me to make sure it was the right time to clap. He also loved watching Purdue Pete. At half time we met my sister and nephew. We then got a box of popcorn, which kept him occupied most of the second half.

Addison is finally adjusting to her new daycare. I drop her off and don't hear screaming the second the door closes.

Her teacher said she is starting to talk to them and really warm up. Last weekend she kept coming up to me with her fingers pinched together like she was trying to do the Itsy Bitsy Spider. I haven't sung it to her, so I assumed they had been doing it at school. I started doing it and that was definitely what she wanted. We must do it 100 times a day now. Last night she made daddy sing along. It took him a few rounds before he got the word and motions down, but he was a pro by bedtime.

Addison has discovered that we keep all the cool stuff up high. I have a feeling I will have the kitchen chairs put into the garage by Sunday and we'll just eat standing up. She is constantly trying to climb onto the kitchen table. I'll put her down and she will go right back to climbing. Hopefully it will sink in soon.

Zack has been loving the games and activities on the Playhouse Disney website. For Christmas he got the Mickey Mouse Easy Link for his Internet Launch Pad. Last summer Ryan set him up with his own computer in his room. I will notice that the house is too quite and I'll find him playing on his computer. It is nice because the website says the words so kids that aren't old enough to read can figure out where they want to go.

We celebrated Ryan's birthday yesterday. We weren't able to do too much since the kids both had strep and were contagious. Happy Birthday Ryan. I love you!!

I noticed today that Addison is getting taller. She is now able to open the kitchen cabinet drawers, reach her hand inside and pull out usually something that will get her in trouble.

I will try harder to dust off my camera, bring it out of hibernation and give my blog more love.

First Sentence

This morning Addison said, "Hi Daddy"while waving. She is growing up way too fast. She has gotten a mouthful of teeth over the past couple of weeks. I am going to miss her big two front gap teeth when the others fill in.

Friday was day 4 at the new daycare for Addison. She bawled when I left her, but the teacher said when I picked her up that she had a great day. She didn't cry every time the door was opened and she was talking to them. They had ravioli and ice cream sandwiches and she loved them both. Food is definitely the way too win her heart. Hopefully next week will go smoother.

Zack isn't feeling well. He had a 101 fever last night, got sick once and broke out in a rash today. He woke up from his 4 1/2 hour nap, after Ryan woke him, with a 104 temp. I spoke to the on-call doctor and am giving him allergy medicine for the rash and alternating Tylenol and Motrin. Hopefully he is feeling better soon and Addison doesn't catch it.

And since I am still slowing working my way through the Christmas pictures . . .

We had a visitor on Christmas morning. Zack opened the door and was excited to see Santa, but not 100% sure about it. He did take the opportunity to thank Santa for all of the wonderful gifts that he brought.

The Loot

Santa brought Zack a Power Wheels 4-wheeler. He forgot to get mom's permission before making the purchase. Santa thought Zack needed a large sized present since Addison was getting the Rose Petal Cottage, so he took it upon himself to get it on Christmas Eve.

Zack wasn't too sure when he saw Scrambler in the living room. He thought it was daddy's present, because his legs would be too short for it. Zack calls the 4-wheeler Scrambler after the 4-wheeler on Bob the Builder.

Addison didn't think her legs were too short for it though.
Zack was pretty psyched about the guitar though.

We are going to have our very own Partridge Family.
Addison loves her new cottage, so does Zack. Addison also received her first Barbie doll and car and a vanity. Zack has had more fun playing with them, although his dad isn't too proud. I'll have to make sure the Easter Bunny brings more Barbies and maybe a Ken doll.
I'm going to have to keep a close eye on Addison this summer. She is ready to off road.
of course I had to get Zack a camera.
