Memorial Day Weekend

We had a great Memorial Day weekend at the lake. We spent a lot of time on the beach and in the water. On Sunday night Addison went to her first dance. I am so upset with myself for not having a camera with me. We had a band and she was rocking out. I had to drag her off the dance floor kicking and screaming when it was time for bed. Zack was too exhausted to put up a fight.

Here are a couple of Addie on the beach. Luckily she is going through a shy phase, so she doesn't wander too far without me. She loves the water, playing in the sand and people watching.

Four Years

Last weekend we celebrated Zack's fourth birthday. He has inherited his mother's indecisiveness and finally settled on a baseball party. Luckily the rain left in the morning and we were able to have the party outdoors, even though it was a little chilly.

Zack went to the doctor on Monday for his checkup. He is keeping steady with his past stats and is still a runt. He is 38 1/2 inches tall, 25%, and weighs 31 pds, 25%.

Zack is taking four years very seriously and wants to get it right. His favorite phrase this week, "...because that is what four years old do, right?"

I didn't have my camera out much during the party, but here are a few snaps.

Grandma Sharon got her Mother's Day gift a week late.

Five on Friday

1. Today is the last day at the daycare until August. Our nanny starts on Monday. Zack is excited to play with Robin all day. We've tried to explain that he won't be going back to school or see his friends all summer, but I'm sure he doesn't understand how long he'll be home.

2. Addison is spending her last day of daycare at home sick. She woke up with a fever and a never ending runny nose, so we are home today. She just had her first popsicle and LOVED it. I had no doubt. Her fever is now gone and she is happily playing with her babies and shopping cart.

3. Zack took birthday treats to school today since he won't be there next week. He chose to take grapes over cupcakes or any other treat. He would choose a piece of fruit over and sweet treat. Addison, on the other hand, can't get enough of the sweet stuff.

4. We are heading to the lake for the weekend. My parents are home from Florida and we have my niece's 3rd birthday party tomorrow. Zack is excited. Hopefully Addison stays feeling better.

5. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. I hope you have a great Mother's Day. I'll end with a picture of my first born from last weekend.

P.S. notice the Sponge Bob band-aid. His knees are now 10 times worse than my post from last week.

All Boy

Zack plays hard and his knees prove it.

The red mark on the bottom is a hemangioma/strawberry birthmark and not a boo boo.

Five on Friday

1. Zack's 4th birthday is quickly approaching, almost 2 weeks. I swear the boy is worse than any girl. He can't settle on a birthday theme. I thought we were set with a Bob the Builder party and then on our drive home last night he decided on baseball. I brought the topic up again at dinner and he now wants a golf birthday cake. I'm glad that I decided to keep it small and haven't done invites or bought any supplies. I think I'll take him to look at cakes this weekend and make him choose once and for all.

2. Next week will be the kids final week at their daycare. They are staying home for the summer with a nanny and will return to the daycare in the fall. The nanny is a Purdue senior in elementary ed. I am excited for the change. I think she is going to be great with the kids. The time I'll save dropping and picking up. They'll get to play outside all day and with their hundreds of neglected toys, because we are never home. We are going to have a new playset with a fort built.

I just love their daycare though and I'm going to be so sad to say goodbye. I keep telling myself that we'll be back in the fall and they'll see all their friends and teachers again soon.

3. Addison is "starting" to tell me when she potty and poops. She is constantly tugging at her diaper and trying to take it off. I really don't want to start potty training her yet at only 18 months, but I think she is going to be ready soon. I'm just waiting for the 1st time she poops, reaches in and smears it everywhere.

4. We are staying close to home this weekend. Zack is bummed that we aren't going to the lake. He is developing some strong friendships there. It brings back so many memories that I had growing up at the lake. I have a senior/family pictures session tomorrow morning. I'm not sure what else the weekend will hold.

5. My snowbird parents should be arriving back in Indiana next week for the summer. Hopefully the weather warms back up, so they don't change their plans :) We miss them terribly and I don't think they are going to believe how much Addison has grownup since Christmas.

Have a great weekend everyone!!
