The Beach is Open

We spent last weekend at the lake. Sunday was hot and the kids spent the day playing on the beach with their cousins. This was the their first time of the season that they were able to play on the beach. They were told to just put their feet in the water and pretty soon they were all dunking their heads and wearing life jackets. The water was freezing, but they didn't seem to notice.

This week Addison has been asking constantly to go back to the lake. She doesn't under that mom and dad have to work. She is definitely a beach babe.

Five Years

Last week Zack turned 5 years old. He had a Star Wars birthday party at the lake and had a wonderful time, despite the rain. Every year the kids get measured on their birthday.

Tip toes

Not much progress over the year.

On Friday he had his five year check-up and his official height is 40 1/2 inches, which is the 10th percentile. He was 25th percentile for weight. The pediatrician said we should give him extra butter on his food and Carnation instant breakfast in his milk. If only I had that problem. Addison is only three inches behind him, so it won't be much longer before she is taller.

Catching Up

I have been horrible about picking up my camera, which explains the lack of blog posts.

Zack had his right cataract removed a week ago Thursday. The surgery went great and hopefully his site is improving. We go back to the doctor on Wednesday and will see how it looks.

We ordered glasses last week. Unfortunately they have to send them to the insurance lab to get made and it is going to take a couple weeks. I really hope they make a huge difference in his site. We are still waiting on a prescription in the right eye, so it will get filled later.

Zack's teacher said they have noticed a big difference in how he prints his name since the surgeries. He used to take the whole width of the paper to print Zack and now he prints much smaller. I started paying attention and it is a huge difference. I can't wait see what his doctor think about it. I really want to see what he does when he gets glasses.

Zack in his new glasses. Luckily we were able to talk him out of getting glasses like mommy's. I like these much better.

Zack had a huge weekend. Friday afternoon his class had a curriculum fair to showcase what they have learned throughout the school year. They sang a few songs, showed some of their work, and we planted a flower.

After school we went to Monkey Joe's, an inflatable play area, for a classmate's 5th birthday. He and Addison had so much fun. The night ended though with the birthday boy's tooth in Zack's head. Luckily they were both okay after the blood was cleaned up. Hopefully the stitch in his eye is still intact, of course he ignored my pleads to take it easy.

Saturday night Zack had another classmate's birthday party at Snapperz. He got to play in a tunnel/maze thing, inflatable slides, bungee trampoline, laser tag, and video games.

I'm not looking forward to throwing these expensive parties for my kids. Zack's birthday is in a couple weeks, but we are going to pass on a classmate party this year, especially with all the medical bills rolling in.

Today, Sunday, we took the kids to see How To Train Your Dragon. It was Addison's first movie and she did really well. I did have to take her out in the middle because she needed to go potty. She did go potty, but I have to beg and plead for her to use the potty at home. Of course, she has no problem going in the nasty public restrooms. At the end of the movie she clapped and yelled, Yay dinosaurs!, so I'm not real sure what she had been watching.

Here is a video from Zack's class on Friday singing the Zoo Phonics Song at the curriculum fair. Zack warned us the night before that Mrs. Anne separated him and another child because they were the loudest singers. He sure didn't disappoint.
