Apple 1, Zack 0

This morning Zack lost his first tooth while eating an apple. It had been loose for a few weeks. He was really excited and wanted to call the dentist, who we visited last week for a cleaning. Zack had asked the hygienist to pull it out at the visit, but she said it wasn't loose enough. She told him to eat apples and carrots and it would come out. He was so excited that she was right.

I immediately called my mom when Zack first told me his tooth was loose. I had seen a tooth fairy pillow on that I knew would be perfect, My mom texted me the next day that the pillow was finished. Zack couldn't wait to use the pillow. We have been hauling it back and forth from the lake just waiting for the tooth to come out.

Addie also has a mysteriously loose tooth that she just loves to talk about and show off. She keeps telling me that she needs grandma to make her a pillow before she swallows her tooth. She isn't about to be outdone by her big brother.

Zack seems to think that the tooth fairy will bring $20 tonight. Should be interesting in the morning!

On a side note...Zack brought home an all about me booklet today. For the question what do you want to be when you grow up, he answered LIBRARIAN! I about died. He is the most loud, talkative, and full of energy kid you'll ever meet. He did have library today though, so I'm sure that played into it. Last year he went from wanting to be a construction worker to a Pokemon Trainer to a postal worker. Should be interesting when he turns 18.

The Goodland Parade

Catching up slowly . . .

In June the town of Goodland celebrated its sesquicentennial, 150th Anniversary. My mom grew up in Goodland and we still have a lot of family in the area. The family decided to decorate an Irish float to show our heritage and celebrate the town where the large family began. Erin go Bragh!

Pre-Parade Activity

Zack and Addie and their cousins were ready to throw the candy

My parents and the siblings rode on the float while we walked behind.

Start of the Parade

The founder of Goodland

Zack was very serious about throwing the candy. He would only throw one piece at a time and after the parade was over he still had a bag full of bubble gum. I guess he thought the parade route would be much longer.

Enjoying the family after the parade

The Welsh Family. I believe there were 70 family members that participated in the parade.

1st Day of School

I'm still alive! We have had a busy summer and I haven't taken the time to edit pictures. I have promised myself to catch up the blog this fall.

Today was Zack's first day of 1st grade. The day seemed to have went really well. He was glad to see his friends he hadn't seen all summer and he said he met some new friends in his class.

Last week I took him for his 6 year well check. He was in the 5th percentile for height and 10th percentile for weight. He is getting used to being the smallest in the class and thankfully he has the personality to outshine.

Today Addie moved up a class at her daycare. She is now in a preschool room, so I can't wait to see how she grows over the next year.

Zack and Addie eating breakfast and watching a show on the PBS Kids app on the iPad.

He doesn't seem to be to happy in the picture, but I always get one of two facial expressions from him super serious or super cheesy.

Zack avoiding eye contact, ugh! This is why I don't bother to take out my camera.

I really need to get Addie into ballet classes. I have promised her I'll sign her up this fall. At least I have one kid that likes the camera.

Addie was excited to see the school bus. I thought she was going to try to get on too.
